It is important for students to have completed at least one SAT and/or one ACT test before the end of the first quarter of the senior year. In many cases, students should consider taking the SAT more than once. Students who take the ACT should take it with the optional Writing component – it is becoming more and more a requirement. In addition, certain colleges and universities require that applicants submit SAT 2 Subject Tests. These can generally be scheduled on the test dates listed above, but students cannot take both the SAT 1 Reasoning Test and Subject Tests on the same test date – one or the other only.
Note: As a growing number of colleges and universities have made submitting standardized test scores (SAT or ACT) optional, students should still sit for the SAT and/or the ACT in order to ensure that they have the required credentials to qualify for institutional and other scholarships.
